Call me Mr. nurse

So, since I haven't updated this in a few months (seems to be a regular trend) I shall give you the skinny on my life in one sentence. I started the fast track nursing program and Memorial University of Newfoundland and I am almost done my first term! See, that wasn't hard at all! So I will check back in 3 months and give another single sentence update.

But for now, I shall elaborate on the above sentence cause it seems like a worthwhile event to blog about. I must say that as of right now I am still on the fence about the whole nursing thing. Say days I say to myself "I can see myself doing this for the rest of my life". Other days I say "Do you really think you can do this for the next 40 years?" I know I am being premature in judging the nursing profession but with all the bullshit we have had to learn this term it is justified. I understand that nursing theory has to be taught before we can practice the skills, but we don't need to learn about all the same theories in all our classes! If I have one more professor ask me about Watson's Caring theory I think I will implode.

In saying all those negative things I am enjoying the program to some degree. I look forward to getting out in the clinical setting and actually having the chance to deal with clients. I really feel my experiences in tourism and working in a physio clinic gave me a good background in dealing with individuals. I am really comfortable talking to people, and I think this will be an asset to me when I begin my clinical rotations.

Other than school, life has been pretty awesome. Living in St Johns is a lot of fun. Eventhough, most of my time is spent doing school work I get to see my girlfriend every day, and great friends very frequently. Which is more than I can say living in Thunder Bay for the last four years...

So, as I say in every other post I wish I could keep this blog updated on a consistent basis, but I will make no promises. At the very least you can expect a one sentence update 3 months from now.
